Celebrating Women Artists

In honor of Women’s History Month, Stonington Gallery presents a virtual collection of works by the women we represent—weavers, carvers, painters, print makers, glass artists, jewelry makers, and more. Women play an integral roll in all societies, including Pacific Northwest Native communities, often where the female elders are held in the highest regard and families are traced through their maternal lines. There are also many important female characters in myths throughout the Pacific Northwest tribes, from Mouse Woman, to Fog Woman to the Wild Woman of the Woods. This group of talented artists reflects the complexity and strength of women in our modern society and the beautiful artwork created by them.
