For over 35 years Stonington Gallery has facilitated special commissions between clients and artists. From small works–such as paintings and jewelry–to monumental projects–like totem poles, house screens, and public art–we connect artists of the highest integrity and technical skill to your projects. If you have a vision, we have a solution. Please contact the gallery to inquire about special commissions with our artists, and take a look at some of the dreams we’ve made reality in the past:
This past weekend we had the opportunity to join Raven Skyriver (Tlingit) and his team at PRATT Fine Arts Studio to watch him blow a salmon as a special commission for a client. Salmon have become an iconic creature for Raven to blow in glass, and watching him use a cage punty (shown below) on […]
Is 2017 the year you put a ring on it? Planning to renew vows, get engaged, or need to replace a missing, damaged or badly-fitting ring? Let us assist! Stonington Gallery is proud to work with fine art jeweler Joan Tenenbaum, who has long specialized in creating beautiful custom wedding rings. Much of Joan’s work […]
We had the honor of tagging along to Pratt Fine Arts to watch Raven Skyriver blow an amazing mahi mahi (aka dorado, aka dolphinfish) this week. Raven and his team work on a huge scale for blown glass — the size of this fish was almost too large for the glory hole to accommodate. But […]
In December 2016 a client came to us on the hunt for a fantastic Raven mask that could hang from the ceiling in a dramatic way. After speaking with numerous artists, the gallery and client landed on the perfect artist to see the job through: Kwaguilth carver Trevor Hunt. Above is a photo of the […]
This Seattle client wanted to gift her partner–a botanist–the commission of a sculpture that would celebrate his love of ferns. Long-time admirers of Barry Herem’s work, they felt Barry would be the ideal artist to materialize the beauty and peace found in a fern garden. The two components of the commission are “The Dreamer” and […]
“Aleutian Dream” is the result of a client requesting that painter Thomas Stream (Sun’aq Aleut) try his hand at a creature he had never painted before; a Great White shark. The final result is dazzling, with complex composition and a dynamic sense of motion.
This lyrical portrait mask was commissioned by a client involved in and inspired by the Elwha River dam removal, and the resurgence of the wildlife in and around the river system.
2015 saw the collection of quite a bit of Northwest artwork by municipal and medical institutions in our region. The gallery was honored to work with institutions such as the City of Seattle, City of Tacoma, Ballard High School Foundation, University of Washington Medicine, and Swedish Medical Center to place artwork in public spaces and […]
Courtney Lipson has been commissioned by many clients to create stunning, personal jewelry that reflect their style and interests. Shown here are one-of-a-kind pieces from years of successful commissions. To commission a work from the artist, contact the gallery.
When is a print not a print? When it’s a glorious etched glass panel. This work was the result of a commission by a client who loved Susan Point’s poignant way of bringing together the elements of water and sky. The resulting artwork, “New Horizons”, was so successful that Point created the serigraphs Anvil Island […]
In 2014 Duane Pasco created an unique totem pole for the gallery’s clients. It was raised in October 2014.
With the commission of this housepost for the interior of our clients’ home, they wanted their pole to celebrate the ecology of the Snoqualmie River Falls area. The completed pole honors the fauna and flora–eagles, hawks, salmonberries, beavers, bears, and skunk cabbage–that are part of the clients’ daily lives. Carved for private collection in 2013 […]
