Prayers for the Earth Rattle (In-Progress)

Spruce Root, Maidenhair Fern, Haida Gwaii Agates & Crystals, Yellow Cedar, Gourd, New Zealand Abalone

This rattle is currently in-progress. It will be completed for the October 2014 exhibit.

This is a rattle used to heal the earth.

The three concentric circles at the top are Rorick’s signature mark, and they appear on all of her works. The three-strand twining just below those circles represents the sky. The four rows of skip stitch towards the bottom represent the earth. The maidenhair fern is used to create the dark red bear paw tracks. The circle of abalone in the handle represents the fissures in the earth from fracking.
