I Carry the Shore

This self portrait is a tribute to the place that shaped me. The perspective is from the shore on Vashon Island. In the background across the water is northeast Tacoma, my home, and the majestic Mount Rainier (Mount Tahoma or Tacobet). My mother always told me to cherish our sunsets because not everyone gets a view like this. This is why people fall in love with the Pacific Northwest. This is why I carry the shore with me wherever I go.
