Acrylic on Birch

Tryptic (18 x 36 x 1.5)

Typically illustrated on cedar bentwood boxes, the great spirit water chief is the one who brings the coastal people all of their seafood. Bentwood boxes were often used to store seafood in the winter. Painted with beautiful turquoise and a contrasting light blue takes inspiration from the vibrant colors of abalone, the stunning warm hues of the Nisga’a Lisims River in the summer, and the highly coveted mineral pigment Vivianite used traditionally to display status and nobility.
