Tetiʔed (Hummingbird)

Teti?ed is the Lushootseed word for hummingbird. This image was created with some elders in mind from my community who had great admiration for them. In the views of Coast Salish philosophy contrary to Western views, it is the small beings who embody a great deal of power and potential. It is perhaps based on the preconception one has of limitation but in various stories Teti?ed overcomes such perceptions and utilizes what power there is in it’s very being to it’s fullest.
