Still Alive, Not Petrified: James Madison

This cubist self-portrait is of Madison’s Tulalip and Tlingit sides coming together. Using the same formline motifs and wolf character on both sides of his face, he’s able to explore the different design aesthetics of each. The profile half of the face uses traditional Tulalip designs and the half of the face looking straight ahead uses traditional Tlingit designs.
