From the Skeena – Mask

The unpainted portion of this elegant portrait mask depicts the Skeena River as it gracefully winds its way through the valleys of British Columbia. The blue symbolizes the color of the life-giving river. The Ts’msyen (or Tsimshian) people are “the people of the river” and historically have lived along its banks.
