Rick Bartow: Transformative EncountersJim Mattingly was a professor of Bartow’s at Western Oregon University, and head of the print department there. He worked with Bartow on numerous printmaking projects. Their partnership was rooted in mutual respect, with Mattingly providing technical expertise in printmaking that complemented Bartow’s artistic vision.
Joe Feddersen is a highly renowned printmaker, basket maker, and glass artist of Colville descent, whose work explores cultural identity as related to his ancestral lands and urban landscapes. He and Rick Bartow were good friends who exhibited in similar galleries and featured in curated museum exhibits together.
Bartow has paid tribute to these two special artists in numerous works over the years, including in this monotype.
