EXHIBITION:

A Generation Rises

Can you sense the pull of the moon on the tides in this mask? That lunar presence tugs at the delicate formline on and around its face, creating a pattern that is almost like a sound wave.
Morsette explores the gravitational relationship between water and moon in this Moon Mask, using cool blues and soft facial features to connect the two elements.

The adornment around the mask is made from the inner layer of western red cedar bark. Beating the bark makes it soft and pliable, a time-honored, painstaking process. The mask itself is also carved from red cedar.
