“Though separated by hundreds of kilometers, the people all along the coast of British Columbia from the Northwest down to the Salish Sea all respect and depend on the salmon to feed their communities, animals, and ecosystems. The salmon is a sign of prosperity whereas the bear and wolf are symbols of strength, family, and the deep understanding that family has for each other. Surrounding the bear is hand-cut abalone of the Northwest that represents the connection to the sea and its importance in our lives.”
