Aunt Fran’s Basket (Low)

Woven Cane Mosaic Glass

The title of this basket refers to the great Lummi weaver Fran James, who passed away in 2013. Growing up, Fran was like an Auntie to Dan Friday, and he makes this series of “woven” glass baskets in her memory and honor.

This artwork is currently featured at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, in the “Native Hands” exhibition. The piece is available to collect through our gallery. Please email or call with inquiries. The exhibition continues through February 2017.
