Pat Amos is of Nuu-chah-nulth ancestry, from Mowachaht, Hesquiat, and Tla-o-qui-aht, First Nations of the West Coast of Vancouver Island. He was born in Friendly Cove in 1957. Pat has been carving since 1979, with such artists as Tony Hunt Sr. & Jr., Henry Hunt, Calvin and Ross Hunt, Gene Brabant, and John Livingston. However, his greatest influences prove to be Tim Paul (with whom he often works in Port Alberni, B.C.), and his grandmother, Hilda Amos, (who carved small totem poles in his youth). Pat has also been creating limited edition prints since 1976, published by Pacific Editions.
