Larry Rosso

Larry Rosso, a Carrier artist, received his training from Doug Cranmer and drew inspiration from Lloyd Wadhams Sr. and Amos Dawson. In 1987 and 1988, he collaborated with Robert Davidson on a house front project and then went on to complete a three-year apprenticeship under Davidson. Larry’s carvings frequently reinterpreted traditional Carrier designs and artifacts from the Hazelton region, while his graphic work was shaped by Kwakwaka’wakw influences. His artistic repertoire included carving feast bowls, coffee tables, bentwood boxes, wall panels, and masks, as well as creating original paintings in oil, acrylic, and watercolor.

Larry was also the owner and operator of Northwest Coast Screencrafts 1976 Ltd., where he specialized in producing limited edition serigraphs for artists such as Roy Vickers, Robert Davidson, and several others. In 2005, he was commissioned by the Vancouver Stock Exchange to create a large red cedar ‘Beaver’ panel, which was featured on their Annual Report. Larry Rosso passed away in 2006.
