Born of Kwakiutl heritage on January 25, 1957, Jimmy Joseph built a strong reputation among the carvers of the Northwest Coast. His carving legacy began in 1976 under the influence of Godfrey Hunt and three generations of his carving family in Alert Bay. His family crests are Thunderbird and Killer Whale.
Jimmy is known for his brightly carved and painted totem poles, masks, and a favorite, oft-carved character, Sisiutl. His works are displayed throughout galleries in Canada and the Northwest.
