Douglas David is an artist of Nuu-chah-nulth, Dakota and Sioux descent, who was born in Seattle in December of 1971 to Joe David and Sandra Tuifua (nee Parry). Born to two fine artists, Douglas has been artistically inclined his entire life. Though his father gave him carving instructions before the age of ten, it was actually his mother who introduced him to selling his work.
Douglas David’s carving is gaining considerable acclaim. His years of meticulous study and carving, and mentoring with master carvers, including Loren White, Art Thompson and George David, are resulting in Douglas developing into one of the most admired Nuu-chah-nulth carvers.
Douglas currently lives in British Columbia with wife and children and continues to carve in traditional style.
