Loon Dancer

I created this bronze Loon Dancer sculpture to celebrate the Ceremonial Wolf Dance. The Loon Dancer was very important. Like the loon with its unforgettable song one hears in the wild, he/it is the one that calls the Wolf Dancers out for the last ceremonial dances, The Wolf Dance. The Loon Dancer is the main one who plays the Qaluqak or Ceremonial Box Drum. Social dancing could go on much longer. The dances with ceremonies occur after the winter solstice, when the sun starts appearing on the horizon.
