“Icons are a beautiful expression of a spirit of being. These two icons are made in a pair. Traditionally masks and many items in Yupik life would be made in pairs. As colonizers and outside people came and collected these items, they were separated and spread to museums and collections around the world. These two are a pair and now carry story of connecting to energy spaces within our bodies but remind us to be filled with love and to connect to the world around.”
