Meeting in Secret
EXHIBITION:
This Coast Salish PlaceThis image came to me without a story. In developing sketches for designs, there are moments when the work appears without me planning it out. As this one came together, I looked at the paper thinking these two creatures were unlikely allies—sharing
information very closely that was not to be heard by anyone except each other. It made me think that back in the times of my great-great grandfather, and before that in mythological times, there must also have been such relationships.
Our culture is informative—it tells us how nature and our observations of it are important keys to survival. It shows us how we are all connected in an eternal chain, and in many ways there is very little that separates us. This image is a window into a moment where two beings partner for a greater good…. And what that is, we donʼt really need to know.
