Artist Statement:
An occultation occurs when an apparently larger body passes in front of an apparently smaller one. On August 13, 2012 Venus appeared to wink out as the crescent moon passed over her. About an hour later she reappeared from behind the unlit side of the moon. That moment of reappearance is captured here.
