Sarra Scherb’s Staff Pick:

All of Daniel Morsette’s masks have two things in common: their powerful emotive quality, and their astonishing wood grain. When one of his faces is in the gallery – never for long – it immediately calls out from across the room where it hangs, demanding your attention. Once you’ve locked eyes with it, it doesn’t let go until you’ve studied its lofty cheekbones, its lipstick-red mouth, and the wild explosion of cedar bark shag in a nimbus around its profile. We only have one or two of Daniel’s masks in the gallery at a time, but perhaps one is enough: too many might completely hypnotize us!
