Once upon a time, in the storied distance of myths and tales, our world was a sunless place lit only by torchlight. This was because the Grandfather of the world kept the sun hidden in a box, the Box of Daylight. Raven, however, the proto shape-shifter and prime mover of all things worldly, grew impatient with the dark, restless for light and warmth, as all become who live on the Northwest Coast. At last Raven’s impatience and yearning drew him into the first, and most famous, test of wills on the ancient Coast. He decided to steal the sun from where Grandfather had long kept it hidden in the house he shared with his daughter.
